Sunday 20 January 2019

After an emotional start to 2019, I wanted to start it off on a happier note. So for my 22nd birthday I whisked myself away to Dublin. I just want to point out at this point how incredibly proud I am of myself. If someone had told me this time last year that I'd actually be willingly getting on a plane and ENJOY it, I would've laughed. I think having constant alcohol in my system for 2 days probably helped with it too.

It was however, one of the BEST trips of my life. For only having spent 48 hours there, they were the happiest and care-free 48 hours of my life. The music, the atmosphere, the accents - it was over far too quickly, I'm already planning my trip back.

Myself and my wonderful friend Shannon explored Dublin Castle and roamed around the grounds before heading over to the Jameson's factory for a tour and tasting session. The tour was so engaging and was led by someone so passionate and knowledgeable about the industry, and free whiskey is always a bonus, I would HIGHLY recommend going if you're there! It's only a short walk from the centre.

We then moved onto the part I was most excited about, THE BARS! We stayed at the Blooms Hotel in the middle of the Temple Bar district, so we were a 30 second walk from a handful of various pubs. It was everything I expected it to be, everyone was drunk, everyone was happy. The music and the atmosphere honestly left me with the feeling there was nowhere else in the world I was supposed to be at that point. We met some wonderful people. I met my DREAM Irish man (hello if you're reading this, you know who you are) who I hope I will meet again one day. It was the best experience of my life.

I can't recall much more, I've never consumed so much whiskey in my life so it's all just a happy blur I will keep close to me forever.
