I feel like Surrey is full of the best country pubs, often located in the middle of nowhere hidden away from the main towns, you know the ones that feel so homely and welcoming as soon as you walk in? The Skimmington Castle is definitely one of them.
Oli has been telling me for months that we should go (I thought it was an actual castle) and in the middle of our morning road trip he suggested that it'd be the perfect opportunity!
We'd arrived slightly early as the pub opens at 12, so we had a little wander around.
After having a wander we headed in and grabbed a ginger ale & pink lemonade and had a look at the menu. I didn't manage to get a photo of the specials board but they all sounded SO TASTY, I'd highly recommend going and finding out for yourself!
Oli and I both opted for fish finger sandwiches, probably one of the best British comfort foods there is. The menu is everything you'd expect from a British pub (you can look at the menu here), and a lovely added bonus is that it's all homemade too!
I have to say it was SO BLOODY GOOD. You can tell there's a bit of extra love put into it. The bread was so soft and thick and it was complimented with the homemade coleslaw and fresh salad, I cleaned my plate of it all. The best part about this pub too is that it's dog friendly! Within an hour of being there I'm pretty sure every other person had bought a dog with them, I was in doggo heaven! If you're around Reigate stop off and grab a bite to eat, you definitely won't regret it.
